Visiting Teacher-Scholars Program We invite educators, students, and professionals to create projects which can benefit the children of Sahasra Deepika. Our mision includes a committment to foster innovative approaches to address the multidimensional, multidisciplinary challenges of educating poor children in India and empowering them to develop their academic, economic, social and cultural potential. We welcome projects which are designed to make tangible contributions to the development of the children and the school. These may involve academic, cultural, or economic or civic development. All project proposals are reviewed and subject to approval by the Board of Directors
SUGGESTED PROJECT AREAS : Caste and Expectations: assessment of the effect of caste on student-teacher interactions on empowerment and self-assessment indices
E-English Conversation: Development of western standard conversational English through partnered distance learning
Development of Social Capital in Rural Charitable Educational Centres: Evaluate means to maximize the development of social capital in both the intramural and extramural setting of charitable boarding schools
Junior Entrepreneur Development for Rural Education: Incorporate innovative Entrepeneurial training into the curriculum which also builds on realistically accessible resources such as microfinance
Civic Sense: Sensibility and Action: Using history, current events, field trips and community service to stimulate and develop civic sense, responsibility, and capability for action
